Our client, a well-established, full-service automotive components and systems design/manufacturer is seeking a skilled Technical Plating Supervisor to join its Oshawa, ON operations. This is a full-time, on-site role.
The Job:
- Supervise laboratory staff in the chrome plating manufacturing process
- Plan, assign, and direct shift staff and activities for safe work practices to meet production demands. Manage performance issues, identify training needs, and arrange for upgrading;
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, plant rules, and legislative obligations. Carry out timely disciplinary processes and resolve complaints and problems.
- Administer the collective agreement and company policies as they apply to activities on shift. Develop good working relationships with union and safety representatives, respond to their concerns, and resolve disputes including grievances.
- Ensure accurate and timely records and documentation are maintained.
- Supervise laboratory activities.
- Review and analyze production plans, logs, testing results, quality assurance data, resource and equipment status, and manpower requirements for the effective management of a chrome plating process.
- Schedule and assign shift activities to achieve optimum process demands. Monitor conformance to formulas, standards, specifications, limitations and quality control, make adjustments, as necessary.
- Coordinate shift activities for the analysis and testing of substances to support investigations, to detect toxins, or to verify the composition of manufactured products and natural resources such as air, soil, water. Perform calculations to maintain chemical process controls. Interpret laboratory results and communicate information to the appropriate staff.
- Identify the root cause of problems and implement, or work with others to implement corrective action.
Requirements:
- Education in Chemical Engineering or an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with waste systems. i.e. filtration, fluid systems
- 3 – 5 years of laboratory experience.
- Supervisory experience in a union environment.
- Good judgement, problem solving, mathematical skills, decision-making.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience:
- waste water and filtration system: 5 years (preferred)
