Phase Canada is seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual with a strong background in commercial HVAC and project management. This is a leadership role with significant responsibility coordinating and managing an HVAC team, overseeing installations, repairs and daily operations, scheduling and coordinating projects with clients and team members, estimating projects and repairs and ensuring jobs are completed profitably and on time and at a high-quality standard.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the HVAC (Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system projects) - Refrigeration Division from planning to execution ensuring on time and on budget completion to high standards
- Supervise and mentor HVAC- Division workers and apprentices
- Oversee commercial HVAC Design- installations, repairs, and ductwork on all commercial and residential systems;
- Perform Heat Load calculations and provide technical insight and troubleshooting as required
- Lead and document pre-job/site hazard assessments with crew participation and ensure hazards are controlled or eliminated before work begins
- Oversee HVAC service department and technicians
- Plan, coordinate, and manage project timelines, materials, and budgets
- Communicate and coordinate with clients, consultants, team members, sub-trades and building/project managers
- Ensure all work complies with Alberta Building Code, safety standards, and company quality requirements
- Provide input on hiring, equipment, and division strategy as the department grows
- Coordinate, schedule and daily dispatch of technicians
- Acquire, estimate and coordinate HVAC maintenance contracts
- Invoice for projects and day to day jobs
Requirements
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning Alberta Journeyperson/Red Seal certification is preferred, or eligible to pursue Alberta certification;
- Minimum 2 years of commercial and residential HVAC experience;
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience managing commercial and residential HVAC teams;
- Minimum 1 year experience using CRM systems for dispatching, job tracking, or invoicing (Service Titan preferred);
- Project management experience;
- Experience managing job costing and ensuring profit margins are met;
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, specifications and heat-load calculations;
- Experience with HVAC system design troubleshooting and improvement recommendations;
- Experience with site hazard assessments and following hazard controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) as required;
- Must hold or be willing to obtain required safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, CSTS, First Aid)
- Must be physically able to climb ladders and access rooftops as required to perform job duties;
- Experience with Microsoft Office;
- Valid driver’s licence required. A company vehicle or vehicle allowance will be provided, subject to the employer’s vehicle-use and insurance requirements.
