Role Summary:
We're looking for a passionate and responsible Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to join our team! In this dual role, you'll
ensure the safety of all swimmers by maintaining vigilant supervision of aquatic areas, while also delivering
engaging, skill-based swim lessons for all ages and abilities. Ideal candidates are energetic, confident in the water,
and committed to creating a safe, inclusive, fun environment. If you love the water, enjoy teaching, and have a

Key Responsibilities:
- Provides good customer service and engages with members, guests and students, promoting water safety
and being a positive representative of the JCC, encouraging continued engagement
- Ensures compliance and controls in lifeguarding and swim instructor functions
- Fosters positive parent and participant relationships, follows up on questions promptly and courteously
- Prepares lesson plans for each class, and writing report cards for all lesson participants
- Maintains complete and accurate records of incidents and accidents, swimming occurrences, daily
maintenance, opening and closing procedures, and follows up in a timely manner with appropriate action
- Provide first aid care and treatment as required for all minor and major incidents until the arrival of
emergency services
- Maintains constant surveillance creating a safe, supervised pool area, vigilant to minimize risks
- Maintains and cleans pool areas, washrooms, changerooms, etc.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current and valid Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard Certification AND Instructor
certification; certifications must be kept valid throughout employment.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED Certification.
- Strong understanding and adherence to all legislated requirements, policies and procedures, including
emergency procedures and health and safety standards
- Models and practices HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Screening through Regional Police.
- Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
- Experience with various age groups and children with special needs considered a strong asset.
