Position Overview
Advanced Design Solutions Inc. is looking for a dependable, organized and hands-on Material Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to take ownership of the movement, receiving, organization and shipping of materials within our operation.
This is not simply a dock or forklift position. We are looking for someone who understands that accurate material handling is an important part of keeping production running efficiently.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring incoming materials are received correctly, identified and stored properly, and made available to production when required. They will also coordinate outgoing material shipments and ensure products and materials leave our facility accurately, safely and on schedule.
This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently, communicating with production, purchasing and project teams, and taking responsibility for keeping the material flow organized.
Key Responsibilities
Material Receiving
- Receive incoming steel, purchased components, plastics, dunnage and other production materials.
- Verify incoming material against purchase orders, packing slips and other documentation.
- Confirm quantities, material type, dimensions and condition where applicable.
- Identify shortages, damaged material or discrepancies and communicate issues promptly.
- Ensure received material is properly identified and moved to the appropriate storage or production location.
- Maintain accurate receiving records and documentation.
- Coordinate with purchasing and production when priority materials arrive.
Material Organization & Inventory
- Maintain organized material storage areas.
- Ensure materials are clearly identified and can be located quickly.
- Help maintain accurate inventory and material-location information.
- Monitor material storage practices and identify opportunities to improve organization and material flow.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation when required.
- Help prevent misplaced, unidentified or incorrectly allocated material.
Shipping
- Prepare outgoing materials, components and finished products for shipment.
- Verify quantities and documentation before material leaves the facility.
- Coordinate pickups with carriers, couriers and internal personnel.
- Prepare bills of lading, packing slips and other shipping documentation as required.
- Ensure shipments are properly packaged, secured and identified.
- Communicate shipment status and potential delays to the appropriate internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of outgoing shipments.
Material Handling
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
- Move materials between receiving, storage and production areas.
- Handle large and potentially heavy industrial materials safely.
- Maintain clean and organized shipping, receiving and material-storage areas.

- Is comfortable using computers and learning internal systems for receiving, inventory and shipping.
- Has strong attention to detail.
- Is willing to be hands-on and help wherever necessary to keep material moving.
- Can work independently while also being an effective part of the larger production team.
Qualifications
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse or material-handling experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred.
- Forklift experience required; valid certification is an asset.
- Experience handling steel, aluminum or other industrial materials is an asset.
- Experience with shipping/receiving documentation and inventory systems is an asset.
- Comfortable using computers, email and basic business software.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with an industrial shipping and receiving environment.

Ultimately, this person will own the material flow through shipping and receiving and become a reliable link between purchasing, production, project management and our customers and suppliers
Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour
