Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Account Assistant to support our finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day transactions, and supporting month-end activities. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
· Process and record vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments accurately and on time.
· Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice coding, payment runs, customer billing, and collections follow-up.
· Maintain organized vendor and customer records, ensuring all documentation is complete and properly filed.
Reconciliations & Record Keeping
· Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations.
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, escalating complex issues as needed.
· Maintain accurate and audit-ready supporting documentation for all transactions.
Month-End & Reporting Support
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, working papers, and financial schedules.
· Prepare cash summaries, aging reports, and other internal financial records as requested.
· Support the preparation of HST/GST filings and assist with audit requests.
Administrative & Compliance Support
· Handle financial information with confidentiality and in accordance with company policies.
· Communicate professionally with vendors, project teams, and internal departments to resolve accounting matters.
· Provide general administrative support, including filing, scanning, data entry, and document control.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant Canadian accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting support.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filters, and pivot tables. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or an ERP system is an asset.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of standard accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping. Familiarity with HST/GST is an asset.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
