Our facilities were designed specifically for our operations which utilize the latest in welding automation. With a large plant site in Acheson, Alberta we have over 65,000 sqft of fabrication space and 19 Acres of lay down yard.
We specialize in the fabrication of pressure piping, power piping and structural steel. We are registered with the Alberta Boilers Safety Association, certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau and have certified CWB welding inspectors on staff to maintain our quality program.
We are currently looking for a dedicated CNC Machine Foreman with experience working with various machinery related to metal fabrication, to join the Rozen Steelworks team.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and optimize CNC plasma, waterjet, and CCO cutting machines, as well as plate rollers and other fabrication equipment.
- Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in cutting and shaping carbon steel plate and pipe.
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
- Supervise the machines and operators while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
- Lead automation initiatives to improve throughput, accuracy, and material utilization.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement new workflows and digital tools.
- Provide training and mentorship on equipment operation, safety, and quality standards.
- Promote a team-oriented, safety-focused, and performance-driven shop culture.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of recent machining experience; journeyperson certification would be an asset.
- Must have experience working with Plate Rolls, Brake and Shear Press, Water Jet Table, and Peddinghaus Beam Line.
- Experience with Weld Overlay equipment is considered an asset.
- Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
- Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Good communication abilities.
Terms of Employment:
- Full Time Days-Monday to Friday - 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- 10 hour days (overtime after 40 hours)
- Hourly rate is per Union Collective Agreement
