Lead Carpenter / Handyman — $32–$38/hr | Year-Round Work + Company Van
At Local Handyman Lethbridge, we believe homeowners deserve more than just repairs — they deserve professionalism, respect, and high-quality craftsmanship. And we believe the person setting that standard deserves to be paid like the professional they are: senior wages, real benefits, and a company that has their back.
If you’ve put in the years — on the tools, in customers’ homes, fixing other people’s shortcuts — and you’re tired of boom-and-bust layoffs, chasing subcontract work, or being paid like a second-year while carrying the crew — this role was built for you.
This is a full-time, senior employee position with steady, scheduled work all year round. No slow seasons. No winter layoffs. You’re the standard-setter on our team — and the pay, the autonomy, and the growth path reflect that.
What You’ll Do (Lead Role)
As Lead Technician, you’re the senior tradesperson on our team. Your focus is delivering excellent work — and raising the bar for everyone around you. Responsibilities include:
- Running the most complex and highest-value projects — bathroom and kitchen renovations, framing, custom carpentry, and full-scope repairs
- Working independently in customers’ homes as the face of our company
- Mentoring and supervising our Carpenter Apprentice — your experience is how they earn their ticket
- Owning quality: your standard is the company standard
- Handling the customer conversation when scope changes or something unexpected comes up
- Helping shape how we work — processes, job planning, and material decisions
- Delivering a 5-star experience through craftsmanship and care
What Success Looks Like
Our Lead Technician is:
- A genuinely skilled, versatile craftsperson — the person others call when they’re stuck
- Calm and professional in customers’ homes, even when the job gets complicated
- A natural mentor — patient with an apprentice, generous with knowledge
- Proud of high-quality work and unwilling to cut corners
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable — you set the tone
You bring the mastery and the leadership — we provide the customers, the schedule, the van, and a team that respects what you know.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience across residential trades — carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, doors and windows, decks, minor plumbing and electrical
- A journeyman carpentry ticket (Red Seal) or equivalent depth of experience — certification is a strong asset, proven skill is the requirement
- Experience leading jobs, mentoring junior workers, or running your own work from quote to completion
- A customer-friendly, professional demeanor
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract (you’ll be driving a company van)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical work safely
- Comfort working in occupied residential homes
- Own basic tool set (company equipment provided for the rest)
Why Join Local Handyman Lethbridge?
