Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Substitute Teachers to join our substitute roster for the 2026–2027 school year. Substitute teachers provide classroom instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, ensuring students continue learning in a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
Assignments may range from a half-day to multiple consecutive days and may be available across Kindergarten through Grade 9.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and adapt as needed to support student learning
- Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment
- Implement effective classroom management strategies
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions and assigned supervision duties
- Communicate relevant information to the classroom teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Foster respectful relationships with students, staff, and families
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and emergency protocols
- Demonstrate flexibility by teaching a variety of grade levels and subject areas as required
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education (or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to new classroom environments
- Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and reliability
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience is considered an asset
