Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable General Helper with at least 2 years’ construction and/or renovation experience, including demonstrable hands-on steel stud framing experience. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, adaptable, and willing to support steel framing crews and other trades to complete projects on time and to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist tradespeople with demolition, steel stud framing, finishing, and general renovation tasks, with primary focus on steel stud framing.
- Measure, cut, fit, and install steel studs, tracks, joists, furring channels, and metal connectors under supervision.
- Help lay out framing lines, transfer layout to substrates, hold and secure members, and follow fastening and screw patterns.
- Install insulation, vapor barriers, and backing where required for metal-framed walls.
- Load, unload, carry, and organize metal framing materials (steel studs/tracks, screws, anchors, bracing, boarding) and other supplies.
- Prepare and clean job sites, dispose of debris, and maintain a safe work environment following steel framing and jobsite safety practices.
- Operate common metal-framing tools and assist with power tool tasks under supervision.
- Follow instructions, troubleshoot on the job, and pitch in where needed as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ construction and/or renovation experience, with required hands-on steel stud framing experience.
- Comfortable measuring, cutting, and installing metal framing components to specified tolerances.
- Proficient with metal-framing tools and screw fastening techniques; knowledge of stud gauge, track layout, and bracing requirements.
- Ability to read basic framing layouts/plan annotations and execute layout tasks.
- Valid G driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
- Able to lift and carry materials regularly and work on ladders/scaffolding as required.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to follow directions.
- Team-player attitude; quick to learn and adapt to changing tasks.
- Required: Working at Heights Certificate
