Job SummaryWe are seeking a precise and quality-driven Sewing Operator to join our medical mobility equipment production team in Guelph, ON. In this role, you will operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture durable, high-quality wheelchair seats, backs, slings, and custom support accessories. Because our products directly impact user comfort, safety, and skin integrity, a strong focus on precision, heavy-duty stitching, and material consistency is essential.Key Responsibilities
- Operate Industrial Machines: Run heavy-duty industrial sewing machines, including walking foot, single/double needle, and programmable tacking machines.
- Assemble Mobility Products: Sew structural fabric components for wheelchair seating, straps, harnesses, and armrests using specific templates and drawings.
- Work with Heavy Materials: Efficiently handle, cut, and stitch heavy-duty materials such as ballistic nylon, vinyl, neoprene, and specialized mesh.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect seams and tension rigorously to ensure all components meet strict medical-grade safety and durability standards.
- Hardware Integration: Sew-in and integrate hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro), metal grommets, plastic buckles, and webbing into fabric assemblies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of industrial sewing experience, preferably working with heavy-duty textiles, automotive upholstery, safety gear, or medical devices.
- Material Expertise: Proven ability to handle heavy, thick, non-stretch, and multi-layered fabrics without bunching or puckering.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and follow technical work instructions, pattern templates, and production specifications.
- Precision and Care: High attention to detail to ensure smooth, flat seams that prevent friction or pressure points for wheelchair users.
- Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada.
