The Opportunity:
We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager with a focus on Flatbed Sales to join ourBagpiper Sales team. This role is responsible for:
- Generating leads through cold calling, networking and referrals
- Exceed all standards for prospecting calls, presentations, proposals and closes
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction maintaining close contact with all customers—including follow up on concerns or other issues
- Negotiate contracts and rate agreements
- Provide documented activity reports of your sales efforts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Build trust-based relationships with prospects and convert them into long-term customers
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients to drive sales growth.
- Conduct negotiations with clients to secure favorable terms and close deals.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, freight logistics, and supply chain processes to enhance sales effectiveness.
- Participate in sales management activities, including forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis.
What you need to be successful in the role:
- Minimum 3 years of B2B sales experience in North American transportation (brokerage and/or asset-based)
- Familiarity with freight logistics, supply chain operations, and 3PL services is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful deal closures.
- Proficiency in data entry and using CRM systems for effective customer management.
- Experience with AS400 or similar software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients quickly.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
