Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair, with a focus on diesel engines. Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including those in trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Repair or replace components such as belts, hoses, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes when necessary
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards
- Assist with welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications
- Follow safety protocols related to heavy lifting, industrial equipment operation, and hazardous materials handling
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with diesel engines and heavy machinery
- Dealership experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair, industrial equipment, and farm machinery systems
- Proficiency with schematics, electrical systems, HVAC components, and welding techniques
- Ability to operate excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic testing devices
- Excellent mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform complex repairs independently
- Capable of heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments
- Good customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Experience with maintenance planning and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
