Lakehouse properties is searching for an experienced banquet sous chef to lead the kitchen operation at our historic banquet facility, Danceland in Wasagaming (Riding Mountain National Park).
Chef designation is not necessary but experience delivering banquets of up to 300 people is required. The most important qualifications of this job are the ability to be self motivated, work collaboratively, be positive in difficult situations and to calmly lead a kitchen team through the 5 month term (June through October). There is potential for this to be a year round event chef role for the right person. All candidates must understand that this position requires hands on work doing prep, cooking, cleanup, organization and communication with our event sales manager and chef.
This is a hands on role requiring the successful candidate to take the responsibility of executing all aspects of the kitchen operation. Ability to prep and cook independently for large groups and understand that cleanup and organization are a part of the job are extremely important.
Most events at Danceland are buffet style weddings, conferences and events such as golf tournaments, festivals etc. This position would require the successful candidate to prepare, execute all aspects of the food operation required to deliver these events.
Accommodation in a private room will be provided for the successful candidate.
The Danceland Banquet cook will be available for work on a full time basis for the duration of the 5 month term. Additional events, caterings and functions are expected to be added to the current roster of events at Danceland throughout the season and will be considered an included part of the compensation related to this contract.
The Danceland banquet cook will be self motivated, take direction from our head chef and management team and problem solve and address issues as they arise in a calm and efficient manner and maintain a positive attitude and atmosphere during the term of employment.
Compensation will include a contract salary or equivalent hourly wage for the season (6 months commencing May 1st and ending October 31st) plus shared gratuity program.
