We are currently seeking a motivated and dependable Transportation Operations Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone with experience in the transportation and logistics industry, particularly in flat deck, step deck, and open deck freight, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in solving problems, staying organized, and keeping operations running smoothly.
Heavy haul experience is considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily coordination of flat deck, step deck, open deck, and specialized freight movements
- Support dispatch, scheduling, load tracking, and communication with drivers and customers
- Prepare and process cross-border shipping documentation and customs paperwork
- Manage and submit:
- PARS / ACI Manifests
- PAPS / ACE Manifests
- ITN / 72-Hour Export Filings
- Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, brokers, and internal team members
- Problem solve and proactively use available resources to find solutions quickly
- Maintain accurate records, shipment details, and documentation
- Provide excellent customer service while managing multiple priorities
- Assist with rate requests, freight quotes, and operational support as needed
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience in the transportation, trucking, or logistics industry
- Strong knowledge of flat deck, open deck, and specialized freight operations
- Heavy haul experience is an asset
- Experience with cross-border shipping and customs documentation
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress, time-sensitive situations
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with excellent follow-through
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently
- Team player who can also thrive in a group environment
- Excellent communication skills and fluent in English
- Strong customer service background
- Positive attitude with a desire to learn, grow, and evolve within the transportation industry
