Opportunity: Project Controls
Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off- Up to 10-hour days
Job Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Duties:
- Assist with Budget Tracking, Invoicing and Cost Control, including monitoring spend vs. forecast, and flagging variances.
- Prepare and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, accruals, and cash flow tracking for active projects.
- Compile and maintain project progress reports for internal and client reporting requirements.
- Support Scope Change Management by logging change requests, updating registers, and coordinating approvals.
- Prepare and submit Monthly Accruals and Cost Reports for review.
- Help build and maintain Project Schedules in Primavera P6, including inputting progress updates and generating lookahead schedules.
- Prepare variance explanations and support responses to client cost and schedule inquiries.
- Oversee Subcontractor Administration, collecting timesheets, tracking deliverables, and coordinating communications.
- Support development and maintenance of project reporting tools, dashboards, and data tracking systems using Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar software.
- Perform other project controls and commercial support duties as required to support successful project execution
Qualifications:
- Criminal Record Check
- University degree or college diploma in construction management, engineering or related field is an asset
- Proven oral and written communication skills with clients, management, and field personnel
- 2–5 years of experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Project Coordination, or Commercial Management within the Oil Sands, heavy civil, or industrial construction industries is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, accruals, and earned value principles.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
- Scheduling and estimation experience is considered an asset
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Office products (Excel, Project, Word, Etc).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify cost, schedule, and productivity risks early.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, and document management systems.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting and dashboard tools is considered an asset.
