RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding using MIG (Metal Inert Gas), wire feed and metal core on various materials, ensuring strong, durable joints.
- Conduct rigging operations safely when lifting or positioning heavy materials or assemblies with cranes or forklifts.
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues during fabrication or assembly processes and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, welding codes, and quality control procedures in manufacturing or construction environments.
- Grinding and cutting (oxy-acetylene or other means)
- Painting metal skids once welding is completed
- Shipping and receiving of welding material
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong commitment to safety and a safety leader
- Currently registered and in good standing with the Alberta Apprenticeship Board in the Welding program
- Proficient and able to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials required of the trade
- Must be able to work independently or in a group/team setting as an effective learner / listener
- Ability to work in a physical demanding position and a fast paced team environment
- Ability to independently lift 50 - 60 lbs
- Ability to work in an indoor confined work area environment
- The following certifications would be considered an asset: fall arrest, forklift, aerial lift, overhead crane
- Position requires vehicle to drive to and from Nisku on a daily basis
- Position requires strong English communication skills, including written, spoken and comprehension
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
