Job description
We are hiring for Dog Daycare Attendants to join our growing team at WnW Daycare. We are a dog daycare catering to small and medium breeds located in New Westminster, BC. Our ideal candidates are individuals who have experience working with or handling dogs of different breeds and temperaments, for example: veterinarian nurses, dog handlers at other dog daycare, dog walkers, dog trainers etc.
Job Title: Dog Daycare Attendant
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of a Dog Daycare Attendant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Picking up after the dogs and cleaning the premises multiple times a day to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Engaging in various play activities with the dogs including playing fetch, solving puzzles, agility courses
- Controlling the dogs to maintain a calm environment
- Opening the daycare in the morning (~6:30AM) and/or closing the daycare at the end of the day (~6:30PM) when required
- Greeting customers, checking dogs in and out during drop-off and pick-up hours
- Processing payment
- Posting photos and videos on social media to engage with existing and prospective customers
- Assisting with various administrative tasks required by the manager
Job Requirements:
- Love of dogs but must also be a people person
- Strong desire to work with dogs to enrich their lives
- Passionate about being part of a growing team that aims to provide the best customer service experience and the safest, happiest environment for the dogs
- Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Enjoy learning new skills and comfortable with passing on knowledge to others in the team
- Comfortable with flexible work schedule, including coming to work on short notice, changing work schedule when required
- Ability to supervise a large dog playgroup while understanding different play styles to ensure a safe and stress-free environment for the dogs
- Confidence in handling dogs and able to control large groups of dogs effectively
- Assist with special projects (office tasks, organizing events, social media etc)
- Qualifications related to dog handling/dog behaviour/dog first aid are highly preferred
- Previous experience working with animals is an advantage
- Experience in operating Gingr (kennel software) and Square (payment terminal) is an advantage.
- Ability to take dogs home for overnight boarding on an ad-hoc basis is an advantage (for no more than 2 dogs at a time)
- Ability to stay overnight at the facility to monitor boarded dogs on an ad hoc basis is an advantage
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long shifts with minimum break time
- Ability to perform manual and repetitive tasks like picking up after the dogs, cleaning the facility and other tasks required by the manager.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.25 per hour
