BDA Inc. has grown from its humble beginnings to a staff of over 75. BDA is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager for Private Sector Construction.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market presence by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities within Ontario's private-sector construction market. This role focuses on developing strategic relationships with developers, property owners, architects, consultants, and industry stakeholders to generate a sustainable pipeline of construction projects. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of the construction industry, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a proven track record of securing new business in sectors such as commercial, industrial, institutional, mixed-use, and design-build projects.
Job Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities within the private-sector construction market.
- Generate and manage a robust sales pipeline through networking, market research, referrals, and industry engagement while leading client acquisition efforts from initial contact through contract award.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and qualifications packages.
- Monitor market trends and upcoming project opportunities throughout Ontario.
- Identify emerging sectors, geographic markets, and strategic partnerships.
Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with developers, property owners, architects, engineers, consultants, project stakeholders and enhance client satisfaction.
- Act as a key company representative at industry events, conferences and networking functions.
- Maintain regular communication with existing clients to identify repeat business opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project transitions from pre-construction to operations while tracking any business development opportunities in CRM.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish annual business development goals and targets.
Proposal, Pre-Construction Support & Strategic Planning
- Work closely with estimating, pre-construction, as well as operations teams to develop winning project strategies while participating in contract negotiations and project award discussions.
- Coordinate proposal submissions, qualifications packages, and client presentations.
- Assist in developing value propositions and differentiators for target clients and projects.
- Provide market intelligence as well as recommendations to senior leadership regarding growth opportunities while supporting go/no-go decisions and strategic pursuit planning.
- Contribute to strategic planning and business growth initiatives.

Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related role in business development, sales, project management, or pre-construction experience within the construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years of total work experience.
- Proven success in securing private-sector construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Construction Management and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
- Comprehensive knowledge of Ontario's construction market and industry stakeholders.
- Excellent networking, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to analyze market opportunities and develop strategic growth plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal management tools would be an asset.
- Ability to travel throughout the GTA as required.
- Annual sales and revenue targets achieved.
- Growth of qualified opportunity pipeline, client retention and repeat business rates.
- Number of new client relationships established with proposal success and project win rates.
