As the Diagnostic Sonographer I in the Cardiac Diagnostics Department within the Cardiology Clinic, you are a member of the Cardiology multi-disciplinary team and play an integral role within the cardiology department. You will be responsible for performing neonatal and pediatric echocardiographic examinations at the Alberta Children's Hospital for both inpatients and outpatients. The Diagnostic Sonographer I is a pivotal member of the health care team. You will have the opportunity to utilize various skills that highlight your excellent technical, clinical, communication, and teamwork in support of optimal outcomes for the pediatric patient population. Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
5 years’ experience as a diagnostic sonographer. 2 years’ experience in the last 5 years performing echocardiographic diagnostic testing. This position requires the sonographer to be able to stand for long periods of time, push, pull stretchers with patients and equipment, and lift and carry up to 50lbs. Pediatric Echosonography experience within the last 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years Pediatric Echosonography experience within the last 5 years. NICU/PICU echosonography experience.
