Chem 1011/1021: Concepts in Chemistry I – 1 Lecturer – Fall 2026
The Lecturer position is responsible for delivering the lecture component of the class, including assisting with test and exam management, on-line student assistance, marking, test and exam invigilation, tutorial support and supporting review sessions as is necessary. This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science through the Chair of the Department of Chemistry, for fall 2026.
Course Description:
The electronic structures of atoms and molecules are used to explain the reactivity and properties of chemicals. Topics include atomic structure, bonding models, structure and shape of molecules and ions, and acid/base chemistry. It is recommended that students have Nova Scotia Grade 12 chemistry or equivalent before taking this course.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Minimum qualification for this position is a BSc Degree in Chemistry (or a related program). Experience providing support for teaching 1st-year university chemistry in the lecture environment is strongly preferred; experience providing support for teaching within the Concepts in Chemistry program is also strongly preferred.
