Full Time Position Available: Program Assistant
The successful applicant will work under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the CAPC Coordinator to support the delivery of program activities and services. Little Steps For A Healthy Start focuses on providing parents, caregivers, and their children with opportunities for learning, wellness, and family engagement in a welcoming environment. Program activities include, but are not limited to, nutritional bingo, cooking sessions with local dietitians, literacy Programs such as Achimo, and occasional workshops facilitated by community professionals.
The successful candidate will assist with program planning, preparation, facilitation, and participant engagement while helping to ensure a positive experience for families attending the program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The program assistant’s main responsibility will be assisting the coordinator in day-to-day tasks, planning and supporting parents during programming, etc,. Subsequent duties will include assisting in childcare as needed.
● Adhere to rules and policies regarding families and children.
● Create and facilitate age-appropriate, engaging, and educational activities.
● Maintain a safe environment for all.
● Ensure facility cleanliness, enforce hygiene and safety protocols.
● Assist the Coordinator in developing monthly calendars.
● Collaborate with Coordinator to design creative, fun, and/or relaxing program activities for parents.
● Maintain communication and relationship building with parents.
● Assist in program/activity set up and break down.
● Assist children where they need, while fostering their independence.
Qualifications and Skills:
● Experience working with children aged 0-6 is an asset.
● Experience with creating and facilitating age-appropriate activities.
● CPR/First Aid.
● Have or Willing to obtain Child Abuse Registry Check.
● Strong communication skills.
● Creativity and adaptability, to build and adapt activities to different groups.
● Ability to stay calm, provide reassurance, and patience when working with parents/caregivers and their children.
● Problem-solving skills.
● Organizational skills.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
