Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Financial Advisor to join our dynamic team. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in financial planning and client service within a professional environment. The ideal candidate will be looking to work in a support role only to senior advisors by assisting with managing client portfolios, organizing and participating in client meetings, conducting research, and creating financial strategies to help clients achieve their financial goals. A strong foundation in accounting, math, and financial services is preferred, along with a keen interest in the finance industry.
· Financial Planning Duties
o Coordinating and scheduling client meetings, preparing meeting agendas with identified opportunities and updating client records
o Collect and analyze financial and investment information for both individual and corporate clients
o Identify opportunities by compiling a financial plan from the qualitative and quantitative information gathered as part of the review process
o Utilize financial planning software such as investment and insurance planning software
o Complete analysis and comparisons for clients in the areas of investments, life insurance and living benefits
o Determine the financial solutions required by the client based on suitability
o Portfolio analysis, research and investment recommendations based on risk tolerance
o Provide investment and insurance advice, including group benefits
o Create retirement projections for clients
o Maintaining required continuing education course learning
o Comfortable working on-site or remotely as required, with an expectation for working primarily on-site over 1 to 2 years to facilitate mentoring and learning opportunities
· Business Development and Marketing
o Must be comfortable delivering in-person and remote presentations to groups of 25-50 clients
o Represent MFS during client events as required, which occasionally includes events held outside of regular business hours.
· Client Service
o Adhere to MFS’s standards for service excellence
o Create strong relationships with clients, being seen as a resource available to them on an ongoing basis
o Answer enquiries and provide information on investments and insurance, as it relates to the client’s plan
o Maintain client files in our Customer Relations Database (CRM) and other filing systems
o Preparation and completion of regulatory documentation including KYC reports
· Education/Experience Requirements
o Minimum Education: A college diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution
o Experience: 2+ years of related work experience preferred but willing to consider candidates with a strong educational background
o License to sell mutual funds in Ontario
o English is mandatory. Bilingualism (French) is strongly preferred
o Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
o Goal oriented with a team-first approach and driven to succeed in a business development environment
o Happy to work in a support role (and not be ‘in charge’) as this piece is very crucial to the position.
o Strong computer skills and a high proficiency with a variety of computer software programs including Outlook 365, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
o Positive self-starter who enjoys working in a small team environment
o An effective multi-tasker with a high attention to detail
o Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, both pro-actively and reactively
o Is naturally disciplined, organized and efficient
o Can juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
o Has a high sense of urgency, and strives to “get the job done”
o Strong ability to communicate with and present to advisors
· Knowledge of:
o Sales practices and processes
o Needs based sales analysis
o Recordkeeping practices
o Proper use of spelling and grammar
o Financial planning software and retirement projection calculations
o Analyzing financial statements, income tax reporting, budgets etc.
o Securities regulatory requirements in Ontario (and other jurisdictions as required) including FSCO and FINTRAC
o Must be Mutual Funds licenced
· Ability to:
o Plan, organize, and prioritize work with a high attention to detail
o Perform assigned duties with minimum supervision
o Communicate complex financial topics in a straight forward & compassionate manner with clients
o Identify problems and implement or recommend solutions

Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
