About Us
Le Petite Cafe is a female-owned community cafe in South Etobicoke. Le Petite Cafe was opened as a project cafe with a vision to learn and build a community cafe. We take pride in our idea to run it as a family, but also present ourselves as a place where relationships are built front of house and magic is created in the back of house, the Petite Kitchen. We serve artisan coffee, curated dishes, and multiple small-serve desserts. We bring happiness, serve daily coffee doses, and ensure our guests are able to fulfill their small guilty pleasures.
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and experienced all-rounder/Kitchen Manager with a strong capacity to own the kitchen as their own.
In this role, you will support Bakers, Baristas, and the social media manager in preparing and executing daily culinary activities, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organizing inventory, and assisting with managing the cafe. You will also help create and maintain a welcoming relationship with Le Petite Cafe guests and partners, and ensure a safe, fun, and engaging environment.
This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for cooking, experience in fast-paced kitchen operations, and a desire to try something new and work with newness in an energetic and enthusiastic setting.
Hours of work:
20- 30 hours a week
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Dish Pit & Kitchen Cleanliness
- Wash, dry, and put away dishes efficiently and safely, maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Take out garbage to designated locations and ensure proper waste management.
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors and surfaces daily.
- Organizing and deep cleaning the kitchen once a week.
- Execute and maintain all cleanliness and hygiene standards as prescribed by the head office.
2. Equipment & Inventory Support
- Assist with organizing inventory of food and supplies, keeping fridges, freezers, and pantry clean and orderly.
- Conduct baking duties for bakers, support, and plan baking - making sure baking time for each and every item and quantity made.
- Receive and properly store inventory, checking order forms and reporting discrepancies to bakers
- Regular maintenance of machines and equipment, cleaning, and recording dates
- Ensure every single item of inventory is stored and put away in its designated place
3. Supervision & Support
- Support the team in building and maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for all staff.
- Supervise team during cooking activities to ensure safety, engagement, and adherence to rules.
- Help define and reinforce cafe rules and expectations to maintain a positive cafe culture.
4. Recipe Execution Support
- Assist in finishing cafe recipes using ovens, stovetops, and other kitchen equipment.
- Ensure recipes are completed accurately according to the cafe owner's direction.
- Monitor and support cooking processes to maintain consistency, safety, and quality.
5. Barista role
- Familiar with Italian/European coffee recipes
- Knowledge and experience of latte art
6. Social Media friendly
- Work with the social media manager to plan and execute weekly content.
- Participate in content creation
Qualifications / Experience
- 2+ years of experience working in the culinary industry
- 1+ years of barista experience
- 1+ years of professional dishwashing experience
- 1+ years inventory management experience
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Can speak fluent English
- All employees will be required to obtain and demonstrate proof of completion of the following documents before the start date of their training and employment: Food Handlers Certification
