Day is seeking a mass production excavator operator who must have experience to move, load, and shift large volumes of earth, or rock safely and quickly in high-output operations like open-pit mines.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Mass excavation, open pit mining, PRODUCTION OPERATOR
- Run the excavator to dig, swing, and dump earth or ore continuously to meet strict site tonnage or volume quotas
- Load haul trucks efficiently with minimal cycle times and proper load distribution
- Strip surface material, build ramps and manage stock piles
- Safe operation of an excavator
- Handling and/or moving material
- Effectively communicate to all site personnel and co-workers
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Identify, report, and correct hazards
- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Punctuality
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) to three (3) years’ experience
- Understanding of equipment capacities, hydraulic functions, digging parameters and open pit loading methods
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Work inside and outside in all weather conditions, and various local locations
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated
- Team Player; able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal
- Must have a full G license with a clean drivers abstract
- Current criminal record check mandatory
Wages commensurate with experience - Schedule 5/2 or 7/7 only
