About DEWC
The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) exists to support and empower women and children, living in extreme poverty in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, who are particularly vulnerable to violence, exploitation, injustice and injury. Through low barrier Drop-In Centers and Emergency Shelters, DEWC provides basic need services, programs, and specialized supports to over 1000 women and children daily to help them survive the conditions that surround them. The Opportunity
The Manager, Shelter is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the DEWC Shelter. She oversees all aspects of operations and human resources functions ensuring a safe, responsive, and respectful environment in line with the mission and mandate of the DEWC and in accordance with funding contracts. Reporting directly to the Director, Direct Services, the Manager will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.
About You
-
You have at least 3 years’ experience in a management position supervising staff, preferable within a unionized environment.

You have a demonstrated ability to lead and coach team members

You will promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre

You are knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, housing, and substance use with an understanding of trauma-informed care responses.

You have the ability to both work and support staff, within a busy, chaotic, crises driven environment where there are multiple demands and prioritize.

You have efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities

Excluded position: Salary - $77,250.00 to $88,838.00 based on experience
