Position Overview
ASP is seeking an experienced Working Civil Superintendent to lead commercial, industrial, and agricultural civil construction projects in Calgary and the surrounding area.
This is a hands-on field position. We need someone who can effectively supervise crews, coordinate equipment and trucking, and operate equipment or assist with fieldwork when required. This is not an office-only supervisory role.
Responsibilities
- Lead crews performing earthworks, excavation, grading, underground services, demolition, site preparation, and structural fill.
- Work alongside the crew and operate equipment when required.
- Plan daily activities, labour, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontractors.
- Read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, grades, and survey information.
- Coordinate survey and layout requirements.
- Monitor production, schedule, quality, and project costs.
- Complete accurate daily reports, employee hours, equipment hours, quantities, and T&M tickets.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.
- Communicate professionally with project managers, clients, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Identify field issues early and take ownership of resolving them.
- Maintain an organized, productive, and accountable job site.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of civil construction experience.
- Previous experience leading civil or earthworks crews.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, compaction, structural fill, underground services, and site development.
- Ability to read civil drawings and understand elevations and grades.
- Equipment operating experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
- Able to complete accurate field documentation using a phone or tablet.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- CSTS and applicable safety certifications are preferred.

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
