On-Call Cook
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a On-Call Cook to join our Food Services team. Reporting to the Director of Food Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals to residents and guests while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.
*On-Call position, and hours are not guaranteed. Scheduling is based on operational needs and may vary week to week
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare food according to established menus and standardized recipes
- Ensure meals meet prescribed dietary requirements, portion control, and appropriate serving temperature
- Set up equipment and supplies for daily food preparation
- Assist with food prep, plating, and overall kitchen sanitation
- Monitor food quality and kitchen equipment; report any issues to the supervisor
- Follow all departmental policies related to sanitation, safety, and quality assurance
- Work collaboratively with other departments to meet resident needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate
- Must be fully vaccinated (COVID-19)

- Proper and safe use of kitchen equipment at all times
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift up to 40 lbs
- Push or pull wheeled equipment up to 50 lbs
- Stand and walk on various surfaces for a minimum of 4 hours per shift
- Bend, kneel, stoop, and reach overhead regularly
- Climb stairs and operate elevators
- Lift and move small kitchen equipment
**This is an On-Call position with no guaranteed hours. Scheduling is based on operational needs and may vary week to week. Candidates must be available to pick up shifts on short notice, including during peak periods, staff absences, or emergencies.
Rate: from $23.41 as per the Collective Agreement
