Summary
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily construction site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope. This role coordinates workers, subcontractors, and materials while maintaining quality standards and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Site Supervision & Coordination: Supervise day-to-day construction activities on-site; Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and labour crews; Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and schedules; Monitor progress and resolve site issues proactively.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Enforce all health and safety regulations and company policies; Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and safety meetings; Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations (e.g., OHSA); Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Project Execution: Review project drawings, blueprints, and specifications; Ensure proper sequencing of work and scheduling of trades; Track milestones and ensure deadlines are met; Assist with project planning and resource allocation.
- Quality Control: Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications; Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions; Ensure all work complies with regulatory and client standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate construction crews and site staff; Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback; Manage workforce scheduling, attendance, and productivity.
- Materials & Equipment Management: Coordinate delivery and use of materials and equipment; Monitor inventory and minimize waste; Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained properly.
- Communication & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and inspectors; Provide updates on progress, delays, and site conditions; Address client concerns and maintain strong relationships.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain daily logs, site reports, and inspection records; Track labour hours, materials, and project progress; Report issues, risks, and changes to management.
Qualifications
Education
Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Trade certification (carpentry, plumbing, etc.) is an asset.
Experience
5–10+ years of construction experience.
2–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Experience in industrial construction, commercial, or residential.
Working Conditions
Primarily field-based on construction sites.
Exposure to outdoor weather and physically demanding environments.
May require overtime, weekends, and travel between sites.
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
