After-School Care Staff

Thrive Kids Club is an after-school care program for K-6 at Vancouver Christian School in East Vancouver. Thrive Kids Club is looking for a caring, passionate, and flexible individual who is interested in joining our dynamic team as After-School Care Staff. The After-School Care Staff will provide a safe, nurturing, and creative environment for children to play, learn and thrive. This person will create opportunities for social and emotional development and community-building through following and facilitating an age-appropriate lesson plan.
Responsibilities
- To read, understand and follow all the licensing regulations and Thrive Kids Club policies.
- To plans, organize, and implement group-based recreational, social, and educational activities.
- To encourage and facilitates participation in activities; provide guidance and instruction.
- To provide supervision of children during activities and monitor and manages individual and group behaviour.
- To provide skill-building to participants such as social skills; models appropriate behaviour.
- To ensure that all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to requirements.
- To maintain related records and produces reports as required.
- To maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity areas.
- To establish and maintain positive communication with parents, teachers, and school staff.
- To maintain confidentiality of all information related to Thrive Kids Club, Vancouver Christian School, the children, their families, and staff.
- To maintain regular attendance, and punctuality and to be appropriately dressed and well groomed.
- To perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Passion in working with elementary school age children.
- Creativity, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
- Physical fitness (e.g. Ability to run) and willingness to engage in age appropriate activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team.
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to follow and implement behaviour management plans and strategies.
- Interest in working in a Christian school environment and willingness to participate in any parts of our program relating to the Christian faith.
- Completed Responsible Adult certificate or at least one college course in psychology, child development or health, safety or nutrition.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Current First Aid & CPR or willingness to get certified before start date.
- Completion of a clear Criminal Record Check by the Criminal Records Review Act.
Hours: 16.00 hours/week (2:50 - 6.00 p.m., Mo - Fr) plus meetings. No hours during school breaks.
Schedule: Availability Monday-Friday required for application to be considered.
Wage: $20.50 to $21.00/hour, plus 4% vacation pay
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.50-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
