Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious HIAB Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating hydraulic truck-mounted cranes (HIAB) to lift, move, and position heavy materials on construction sites. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment. Multilingual abilities and experience with rigging, crane operation, and forklift equipment are highly valued. The HIAB Operator plays a critical role in ensuring project efficiency and safety while providing exceptional customer service when interacting with clients and team members.
Responsibilities
- Operate HIAB (hydraulic truck-mounted crane) safely and efficiently to load, unload, and position materials on construction sites
- Use rigging techniques to secure loads properly before lifting
- Coordinate with ground personnel to ensure safe lifting operations and communicate effectively throughout the process
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on crane equipment to ensure optimal functioning
- Assist with the operation of forklifts or other machinery as needed
- Follow all safety protocols and adhere to OSHA standards to prevent accidents or injuries
- Maintain clear communication with team members, clients, and supervisors regarding project progress and safety concerns
- Assist in setting up the crane for different types of lifts, including boom truck operations when necessary
- Keep work areas organized and ensure all equipment is stored properly after use
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating HIAB cranes or similar heavy lifting equipment in construction or industrial settings
- Construction experience preferred; familiarity with rigging, crane operation, and mechanical systems is essential
- Valid certifications for crane operation (22 ton and under)
- Valid class 3 or better drivers license
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus for effective communication on diverse teams or client interactions
- Strong communication skills to coordinate safely with team members and clients
- Mechanical knowledge related to crane systems, hydraulics, and general machinery maintenance
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads up to specified weight limits
- Commitment to safety procedures and OSHA compliance for all lifting operations
