Job Title: Moving Team Manager
Company: Halifax Professional Movers Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia Job Type: Part-Time Pay: $21 - $25
About the Role
Halifax Professional Movers is looking for an experienced Moving Team Manager to lead crews on household and corporate moves. This is a hands-on leadership role — you're still moving furniture and boxes alongside the team, but you're also the one behind the wheel, making the calls on-site, and keeping the job running smoothly from arrival to final walkthrough.
What You'll Do
- Drive the moving truck to and from job sites safely and on schedule
- Lead and coordinate a crew of movers on-site, assigning tasks and keeping the job moving efficiently
- Make real-time decisions on packing strategy, truck loading order, and problem-solving on the fly
- Perform hands-on moving work alongside the crew (lifting, carrying, wrapping, loading/unloading)
- Communicate with clients before and during the move — confirm details, set expectations, handle questions or concerns professionally
- Do a walkthrough with the client at the start and end of the job to confirm scope and sign-off
- Ensure furniture, boxes, and property (both client's and truck) are handled carefully to avoid damage
- Keep track of job details, timing, and any issues, and report back to management
- Uphold safety standards for the crew, the client's property, and the equipment
- Help train or mentor newer crew members on technique and professionalism
What You Need
- Valid driver's license in good standing (required to legally drive the truck)
- Reliable personal vehicle (for getting to job sites, meetings, etc.)
- Proven experience in household and/or corporate moving
- Experience leading or coordinating a team, or clear readiness to step into that role
- Strong physical stamina — this is still an active, hands-on job
- Comfortable driving larger vehicles/trucks (truck driving experience is a strong asset)
- Excellent communication skills — with crew and with clients
- Good judgment and problem-solving ability under time pressure
- Punctual, reliable, and professional representing the company on-site
- Clean driving record preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience with commercial or long-distance moves
- First aid/basic safety training
- Experience with moving-specific equipment (dollies, straps, blankets, ramps)
Why This Role Pays More
As a Moving Team Manager, you carry more responsibility than a standard crew member — you're trusted with the truck, the crew, and the client relationship. Pay reflects that added responsibility, driving duties, and leadership on every job.
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
Benefits:
Work Location: In person
