Job Title: Tool & Die Apprentice
Reporting to: Special Project Manager
Location: Greater Toronto Area
General Duties:
To support production by conducting timely preventative maintenance and repairs on existing tooling. Willingness to wear multiple hats and be a team player in a fast-paced start up environment.
Responsibilities:
· Repair and modify molds, jigs, dies and fixtures by welding, milling, grinding, polishing and other techniques and tools. Disassemble and reassembly as required.
· Conduct preventative maintenance on molds, tools, dies, and fixtures as required.
· Set up Tools on CNC
· Set up EDMs
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other instructions
· Handle Cleaning, drilling, reaming, boring, polishing, deburring and grinding of Aluminum parts
· Maintain shop equipment to ensure they are working safely and per manufacturer spec
· Assist with product development activities including sample making
· Assist with tool changeover and setup on production machines
· Works on special projects as directed by the management team.
· Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of all data
· Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety meetings
· Lead and maintain a safe, secure, enjoyable professional working environment.
Qualifications:
· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and organizational skills
· Willing to learn skills necessary to become Certified Tool & Die Maker
· Knowledge of different Tooling Machinery and usage including Milling Machines, Lathes, Drilling Machines, Band saws and Grinders
· Ability to lift and maneuver heavy weights
· Attention to details and reporting activities
· Self-motivating with a positive attitude
· Ability to work independently and problem solve
Typical working conditions:
· Schedule may change depending on business requirements. Monday to Friday days.
· Manufacturing plant with continuous interaction on manufacturing floor where PPE is required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
