At Onfreight Logistics, safety is more than a department — it is a core part of how we operate every day across Canada and the United States. We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team in Tecumseh, Ontario. This position will work directly alongside and report to the Fleet Safety Manager.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced transportation professional who understands the realities of cross-border trucking and is looking to transition into a leadership, coaching, and compliance-focused role. We are looking for someone who can effectively connect with drivers, support onboarding and training initiatives, reinforce regulatory compliance, and help maintain the high operational and safety standards expected throughout our fleet.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Hours of Service regulations, roadside inspections, driver compliance requirements, and the day-to-day challenges drivers face on the road. Previous experience as a cross-border AZ driver, driver trainer, safety trainer, or driving instructor would be considered a major asset.
This position involves a combination of office responsibilities, yard activities, and in-truck coaching and evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct road tests, driver evaluations, and ride-alongs
- Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation
- Provide coaching and mentorship to drivers regarding safety and compliance expectations
- Review Hours of Service logs, ELD compliance, and supporting documentation
- Assist with accident and incident investigations
- Support ongoing fleet safety initiatives and compliance programs
- Monitor and reinforce compliance with FMCSA, MTO, CVOR, and Canadian Hours of Service regulations
- Work closely with operations, safety, and management teams to support overall fleet performance
- Assist with driver communication, corrective coaching, and documentation when required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Class AZ licence preferred
- Previous cross-border driving experience considered a strong asset
- Experience conducting road tests, driver evaluations, coaching, or training preferred
- Strong understanding of FMCSA, MTO, CVOR, and Hours of Service regulations
- Knowledge of ELD systems and driver log auditing
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Comfortable conducting ride-alongs and providing constructive feedback
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Previous experience within a transportation safety or compliance department considered an asset
