Located in the heart of NDG Les Habitations adaptées et accessibles Tango is a non-profit organisation offering adapted and affordable housing to low-income adults, ages 18 to 55, living with physical disabilities.
Les Habitations Tango are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to complete our team.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to work alongside our Cook in a community setting with our staff and 15 permanent residents in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. This is a part time position and is available immediately.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist with food preparation by chopping, peeling, and slicing vegetables and fruit
* Assist the Cook with food preparation and meal assembly
* Assist with cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
* Assist with plating and serving meals to the tenants
* Assist with inventory management and stock rotation of food and supplies
* Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies
* Washing dishes and maintaining a clean and organised dishwashing area
*Follow correct food handling and safety procedures to prevent foodborne illness
* Assist with other tasks as assigned by kitchen management
* Ensure that the work environment remains safe, clean, and tidy
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated empathy toward people with various physical limitations
- Attention to detail, particularly regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
- Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations, communication, and teamwork.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and follow recipes and instructions
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on various tasks as needed
Working Conditions
Since you will be working with a high-risk clientele, we require compliance with strict food safety measures and other rules related to tenant health.
The work schedule is three days per week. The ideal candidate must have a good knowledge of English and French. The hourly wage is $21.00.
After a 6-month period, you are eligible for one week of vacation at a time of your choosing. Additionally, Les Habitations Tango offers working conditions that comply with the labour standards established by the CNESST.
