Job Summary:
Working under the supervision of the Executive Director of the daycare, the childcare educator is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and care of the children. An educator teaches, supervises, and cares for children ages 12 months to 12 years old. They provide for the children's health, safety and well-being, while providing an environment that encourages learning and social development.
Childcare workers establish daily routines and help children follow these plans. Duties include assisting with meals, educational activities and recreational activities. Depending on their ages, educators may be required to clothe and diaper the children. Educators are to keep a record regarding health and safety. Other duties may also include cleaning tasks such as wiping tables, sweeping floors and cleaning toys/shelves.
Duties:
- Observe and monitor children play activities while nurturing, teaching and providing a safe environment
- Organize and participate in recreational activities
- Assist during meal time
- Regulate rest periods
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas
- Dress children and change diapers
- Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, and medications administered to report back to parents.
- Provide any updates on the children's file, behaviour or learning to the Director
-Attend monthly staff meetings
-Attend in house staff training when made available
-May arrange medical attention for ill or injured child in accordance to parental instruction.
- Occasionally may be asked to perform special projects or duties.
Requirements:
- Level 1, 2 or 3 certificate
- First aid / CPR Level 3
-Police record check
