Coastal Care is a Canadian-owned, newly built, fully equipped 24-hour emergency hospital with full-time Boarded Specialists in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, and Dermatology. The hospital houses an ER and ICU, along with Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Radiology, and exotics departments, with Dentistry coming in 2027!
Our 17, 000+ sq ft purpose-built facility features all the Bells & Whistles, as well as on site Canadian Animal Blood Bank, learning centre collaboration with the Atlantic Veterinary College and advanced imaging including CT and MRI.
Surgery: We are looking for an experienced RVT to work closely with Dr. Scott Joudrey. The position will be from Monday to Thursday. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with sedation/general anesthesia, talking to clients, restraint, taking radiographs and being a part of a team. The Surgery department is able to complete advanced surgical procedures including minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures, surgical oncology, management of cranial cruciate ligament disease, brachycephalic airway disease, and more. The Surgery department works closely with our Anesthesiology department, and our board certified anesthesiologist Dr. Jocelyn Marchiori. Dr. Marchiori, along with our other specialists, is committed to advancing RVT training which includes skills like epidurals, local blocks, nerve blocks, use of anesthetic ventilators with neuromuscular blocking agents and, placement of arterial catheters for direct blood pressure monitoring.
Internal Medicine: The Internal Medicine / Hospital Float RVT has many important responsibilities and is routinely entrusted with patient assessments, sedation/anesthesia, procedures, diagnostics, and treatments. This technician will be responsible for patient care, patient follow-up, and maintenance of Internal Medicine appointments and records. They will be expected to maintain regular client follow up, and answer owner and referring veterinarian-related questions. This technician must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly, and maintain high standards of patient care. This technician will need to maintain clear and accurate written communications with the specialists, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
This role will be mostly supporting the Internal Medicine department, with the occasional shift in other departments when there is need for RVT support.
- Assist with procedures and perform diagnostics that include but are not limited to ultrasound, endoscopy/rhinoscopy/cystoscopy, chemotherapy, CT scans, fine-needle aspirates and cytology.
- Maintain a professional, friendly demeanor at all times.
- Demonstrate the willingness to obtain a full working knowledge of practice software.
- Support and educate clients on medical related illness, disease and treatment.
- Prioritize tasks to maximize clients’ satisfaction and patients’ health.
Ophthalmology: Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is looking for a collaborative and professional Registered Veterinary Technician with a fascination for
Ophthalmology to join our specialty team. This position requires a driven individual
with strong attention to detail and who is a self- starter and able to work in a fast-paced
environment. The ideal candidate must be computer literate and have multi-tasking and
time management skills. The ideal candidate values maintaining a collegial working
culture and prioritizes client care, embracing the strategy, commitments, and goals of
the organization to deliver high standards of medicine and exceptional patient care.
This role will allow for a compressed work week with four 10-hour shifts, Monday
through Thursday.
