Adult Education Instructor (Levels 1 & 2)

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Adult Education Instructor to lead classroom management and instruction for levels one and two within the Nova Scotia Adult Learning Program. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in empowering adult learners by providing individualized literacy and academic upgrading support. Working closely with our collaborative team, you will help students build confidence, achieve their educational milestones, and meet all standards set by the Nova Scotia Adult Learning Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Delivery: Provide tailored literacy and upgrading instruction on an individualized basis to meet all specific outcomes of the Nova Scotia Adult Learning Program.
- Student Guidance & Assessment: Informally assess learners, guide them in setting realistic goals, co-create personalized learning contracts, and evaluate ongoing progress.
- Curriculum & Innovation: Design and develop engaging instructional materials tailored to the program, while actively encouraging and modeling classroom technology use.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively and cooperatively as an integral part of the instructional team to support broader program goals.
- Professional Standards: Maintain strict student confidentiality and uphold all community-based adult education policies and association standards.
- Program Collaboration: Participate in ongoing team planning sessions and meetings as requested.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Undergraduate degree combined with a Bachelor of Education, OR equivalent training/certification in adult education.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching and supporting adult learners in a community or educational setting.
- Core Competencies:
- Solid understanding of the principles of adult education and student-centered learning.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with integrating technology into teaching.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- A deep commitment to inclusivity, equity, and student confidentiality.
