Funeral Director Assistant / Body Removal Technician

Reporting to the Funeral Home Manager or Our Funeral Directors, the Funeral Assistant should be a self-motivated individual who can demonstrate initiative and work with minimal supervision while complying with Company policies and procedures. The incumbent must work well as part of the team as the primary provider of administrative support to funeral home staff and client families. We are looking to fill this position with a qualified, mature and self-motivated individual who is capable of prioritizing and handling multiple demands simultaneously.
We are seeking someone who is able to be on call every second weekend for body removals. Shift would start Thursday at 4:30pm to Monday at 8:30am. Standby fee paid.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds; push/pull up to 300 pounds
- Handling human remains with dignity and professionalism.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely is essential.
- Assisting with removals and transfers from homes, hospitals, long term care facilities.
- Wrapping remains in sheets or pouches to prepare for transport.
- Placing remains onto stretchers and securing them appropriately.
- Safely loading and unloading remains from vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for this role:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written.
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrates active community involvement and establishes a positive profile of the Funeral Home within our community.
- A valid driver’s license is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Successful Candidates must provide a drivers abstract along with a Basic Criminal Record Check for employment purposes.
