Inclusion Foothills (I.F.) is on a mission to create a vibrant inclusive nonprofit that enhances quality of life throughout the community. The I.F. mission and vision clearly states: “to provide advocacy and support for individuals with pan disability and their families/guardians so they may: enjoy all rights, responsibilities, and benefits of citizenship, be valued, and included as equal/valued citizens and be free of discrimination, with a vision of Inclusive Communities where everyone is embraced and valued.” We’re looking for a highly skilled executive director to fulfill this important undertaking. Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of our programs and staff. This seasoned leader will not only understand current trends in inclusive communities but will also have experience in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan. Experience in hiring and managing staff is essential, and established relationships with local community groups is a plus. Above all, the executive director should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness.
Objectives of this role
- Work closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization
- Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance
- Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission
- Increase awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media
- Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow
- Comply with all local, provincial and federal regulations
Responsibilities
- Create strategic plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with board of directors
- Meet aggressive annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
- Work with staff, board and volunteers on annual fundraising benefit and additional events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing, newsletters, and social media
- Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs
- Build and lead an effective team that’s dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising
- Manage staff members, individuals and families whose experiences, cultures, and languages reflect the community served by the organization
Required skills and qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with nonprofit organizations
- Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
- Proven success working with a board of directors
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to strategic planning
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
- Must live in the Foothills Area
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, human resources, or finance preferably in the non profit sector
- Experience in managing multiple budgets and funding sources
- Professional with at least 5 years experience working in a not for profit environment, and at least 2 years leadership and management experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Working expertise in major technical platforms (MS Office, Google Workspace, etc).
