As our Front of House (FOH) Manager, you'll play a key role in bringing that experience to life.
Position Summary
The Front of House Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the shop while creating an exceptional experience for both our guests and our team. This role combines leadership, operations, administration, and hands-on service.
You'll divide your time between working alongside your team on the floor and managing the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that keep the shop running smoothly. Success in this role means building a positive team culture, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring every guest leaves with an outstanding Banter experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and support a team of approximately 25 Front of House team members.
- Build strong relationships through regular check-ins, coaching, and mentorship.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and encouraging workplace culture.
- Hire, onboard, and train new team members.
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings and celebrations.
- Recognize achievements and provide constructive feedback.
- Communicate company values, history, and product knowledge with confidence.
- Post regular team updates and maintain clear communication.
Operations & Guest Experience
- Lead by example while working regular scooping and shift-leading shifts.
- Deliver and model exceptional guest service.
- Create and manage weekly labour schedules using sales forecasting.
- Monitor labour costs and staffing levels.
- Coordinate monthly flavour launches and in-store merchandising.
- Maintain shop inventory and order Front of House supplies.
- Oversee store presentation, cleanliness, signage, organization, and seasonal displays.
- Care for shop plants and contribute to creating a welcoming environment.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair requests.
- Ensure FoodSafe, Occupational Health & Safety, and operational standards are consistently met.
- Build relationships within the local community and support community partnerships and fundraising initiatives.
Administration
- Edit and approve employee timesheets.
- Upload receipts using Dext.
- Organize onboarding documentation and maintain employee records.
- Maintain detailed employee check-in notes.
- Complete shop bank deposits.
- Support payroll administration, including tip distribution.
- Manage budgets for team events and celebrations.
- Process internal invoices as required.
- Utilize systems including:
- Agendrix
- Google Workspace
- Dext
- Basecamp
- Square
Leadership Collaboration
- Meet regularly with the General Manager.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to Banter's collaborative management team.
- Work closely with Human Resources to support hiring, onboarding, and employee development.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications

- Has experience leading a team, shift, or project.

Schedule & Availability
This is a full-time position averaging 30–40 hours per week, with increased hours during our busy summer season.
From November through March, scheduling is more flexible, and candidates with reduced winter availability may be considered.
General expectations include:
- Working at least one weekend shift most weeks.
- Availability for both opening and closing shifts.
- Working occasional Sundays.
- Dividing time approximately equally between administrative responsibilities and working on the floor.
- Completing most administrative work from the shop, with occasional remote work as appropriate.
- Being available to provide leadership support and cover shifts when operational needs arise.
- Adjusting administrative workload when time is spent supporting day-to-day operations.
- Planning vacation and time off in advance to support operational planning and healthy work-life balance

- Starting wage: From $22.00/hour, based on experience
