Brake Operators - Main Machine RAS
At Custom Metal Contracting, we are looking for bright and energetic team members to join our team working the afternoon shift.
Brake Operator Duties:
· Ability to safely prepare and operate Brake machinery.
· Perform regular maintenance on Brake machines.
· Program and optimize Brake processes.
· Sort shop orders into groups to maximize materials utilization and minimize machine setup time.
· Select and adjust materials.
· Check and inspect finished parts.
· Bend and form the product using the sequence indicated.
· Work from shop drawings to produce Quality parts.
· Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
· Check height, depth and other tolerances using calipers, gauges and tape measure.
· Perform both visual and dimensional inspections to quality standards.
· Translate the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production.
· Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
· Revise programs to eliminate errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
· Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
· Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
· Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns and programs.
· Identify and source cutting tools and fixtures needed for jobs.
· Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
· Determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radio, and curvatures.
· Perform proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on projects.
· Ensure that every machine procedure is done in accordance with the strict guidelines of the company.
· Follow all company safety protocols.
· Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift.
· Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.
Brake Operator Required Skills:
- High school diploma or possess strong basic math skills required.
- 1+ years’ experience using production machinery, hands tools and hardware (preferred).
- Strong work ethic and ability to work at a fast pace.
- Knowledge of safety and manufacturing regulations and procedures (preferred).
- Proven history of working with gauges and calipers.
- Reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret and follow written directions, blueprints, and engineering diagrams.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 30-50 pounds.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Assisting other assemblers when required.
