We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative QA Automation Engineer to join our team. This role is hybrid and requires working from our downtown Toronto office and/or the client office (160 Front Street West) a minimum of 2–3 days per week, subject to change based on business needs.
In this role, you will contribute to designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions to ensure high-quality software delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, leveraging modern testing tools and practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright and Selenium
Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members to understand requirements and define test strategies
Execute automated and manual tests to validate functionality, performance, and stability
Contribute to continuous improvement of test frameworks and processes
Support or lead efforts to enhance or build automation frameworks using Java and Selenium
Participate in Selenium to Playwright migration initiatives, where applicable
Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with teams to ensure timely resolution
Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence for test tracking, documentation, and collaboration
Leverage GitHub Copilot and other tools to improve productivity and code quality
Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data and ensure data integrity
Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates, risks, and insights
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Must-Have Skills
Strong hands-on experience with:
Playwright automation
Selenium
Core Java
Proficiency in SQL for data validation and testing
Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar developer productivity tools
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience building or enhancing test automation frameworks using Java and Selenium
Hands-on experience with Selenium to Playwright migration
Exposure to modern QA practices, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps environments
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000–$105,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
