Nasittuq Corporation is seeking an experienced Power Plant Supervisor to lead diesel power generation operations at Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, located in Nunavut, Canada's northernmost permanently inhabited settlement.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Power Generation Supervisor, Diesel Power Plant Supervisor, Industrial Electrician, Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, Electrical Generating Systems Technician, or Utilities Supervisor who is passionate about maintaining critical infrastructure in a unique Arctic environment.
Working on an 8 weeks on / 8 weeks off Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) rotation, you will lead power plant operations and maintenance activities that support essential Department of National Defence (DND) operations.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Contract Site Manager, the Power Plant Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of both the primary and standby diesel power generation plants at CFS Alert.
The successful candidate will oversee personnel, maintenance activities, operational planning, and regulatory compliance while ensuring continuous power generation for station operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide leadership to Power Plant Technicians and Bulk Fuel Technicians
- Ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of diesel generators and power generation equipment
- Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor all power plant maintenance activities
- Monitor equipment performance, power system reliability, and plant efficiency
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, and power generation systems
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, environmental regulations, and operational requirements
- Maintain operational records, maintenance reports, and performance documentation
- Coordinate fuel management and power generation reporting requirements
- Mentor and develop technical staff while promoting a strong safety culture
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to power plant operations and maintenance
Required Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Experience
- Proven experience operating and maintaining diesel power generation facilities of 1500 kW or greater
- Demonstrated supervisory experience within a power plant, utilities, industrial maintenance, mining, oil and gas, defence, or remote camp environment
- Strong experience planning, scheduling, directing, and reporting on power plant operations and maintenance activities
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, generators, electrical distribution systems, fuel systems, switchgear, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience leading maintenance teams in operational environments
- Strong understanding of safety programs, risk management, and regulatory compliance
Required Trade Certification
Candidates must possess one of the following:
Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic
- Journeyperson certification
- Experience operating and maintaining diesel power plants of 1500 kW or greater
OR
Industrial Electrician
- Journeyperson certification
- Experience operating and maintaining diesel generator power plants of 1500 kW or greater
OR
Electrical Generating Systems Technician (EGST)
- Appropriate certification with supervisory qualifications
- Relevant power generation and maintenance experience

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Experience with maintenance management and work planning
