About The Heritage Partners
The Heritage Partners is a family office focused on acquiring and operating small and medium-sized businesses across North America. You'll work directly with our founder (Ivey HBA ‘06) on acquisitions, driving the full deal cycle: company research, building models, bank calls, owner conversations, company visits, and the judgment calls in between.
What You'll Do
End-to-End Deal Management: You'll be involved in every stage of the deal lifecycle: sourcing, broker and owner calls, CIM review, site visits, LOI drafting and submission, lender evaluation, due diligence, and post-acquisition strategy.
Deal Sourcing: Identify and evaluate acquisition targets through maintaining banker and broker relationships and proprietary outreach. You'll pitch brokers on our family office, screen incoming opportunities, and decide what's worth time focusing on.
Company & Industry Analysis: Build industry theses and dig deep into target companies. Your focus would be on strategy, financials, org structure, customer concentration, and fit with our acquisition criteria. Your summaries and recommendations go straight to the decision-maker, so clear thinking matters here more than the ‘polish’.
Financial Modeling: Build and maintain financial models (including LBO analyses) to support acquisition decisions, stress-test key drivers, and pressure-test seller and broker claims.
Travel: Travel is periodically part of the role, including on-site due diligence at target companies across Canada.
Who We're Looking For
- 1+ years of working experience in search funds, private equity, investment banking, M&A advisory, consulting or corporate development(strong co-op/internship experience counts)
- University graduate with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, and expert at reading and understanding financial statements
- An entrepreneurial and scrappy mindset. You're self-motivated, take full responsibility for your work, and hold yourself to a standard where your output is decision-ready. We’re a small team, so your role is very important to our success.
- Strong written communication, since much of what you produce you send directly to brokers, lenders, and owners
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Why This Role
Most analyst roles hand you a narrow slice of the deal. Here you get the whole thing, and you get real ownership of it. You'll build conviction on live targets, defend your thinking directly to the person writing the cheque, and watch your analysis turn into actual acquisitions. This is the closest thing to an apprenticeship in buying businesses that an analyst seat can offer. If your ambition is private equity, entrepreneurship through acquisition, or one day owning a company yourself, you'll leave this role with the full-cycle deal reps, the operator's instincts, and the pattern recognition that people usually spend a decade collecting. For a strong performer, there are also opportunities to get involved in post-acquisition growth & operations of the companies we buy and to invest alongside The Heritage Partners.
Compensation includes a competitive base salary, phone stipend, and a bonus for each deal completed.
