We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator to join our team. Compensation and benefits are competitive within the ship repair industry.
Responsibilities
- Promote and support positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, safety observations, orientation training for new and existing employees, and perform respiratory fit testing and atmospheric testing.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, safe work practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE programs and procedures.
- Provide HSE guidance and support to employees, supervisors, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain HSE records, reports, and documentation.
Qualifications
- Combination of HSE education, training, certifications, and relevant industrial experience.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, industry standards, and safe work practices.
- Experience with gas detection equipment and confined space work is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in industrial and outdoor environments, including shipboard, working at heights, and confined-space settings.
- Flexibility to accommodate shift changes, overtime, and extended hours as required.
