About Our Client
Our client is a dynamic, growing organization that values operational excellence, agility, and continuous improvement. Operating with a lean and highly efficient IT team, they provide a fast-paced environment where technology is a critical driver of business success. They are seeking a versatile IT leader who thrives in small-to-mid-sized organizational structures, enjoys "owning the technology stack," and can balance high-level strategic governance with hands-on execution. This role offers the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact across distributed teams while driving the company’s modern cloud infrastructure forward.
Responsibilities
As the IT Systems & Applications Lead, you will take end-to-end ownership of IT operations, applications, and infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership & Service Delivery: Lead, mentor, and coach the IT Service Desk team. Manage SLA performance, track service delivery metrics, handle complex technical escalations, and jump in to assist with hands-on break/fix support when necessary.
- Identity & Access Management (IAM): Oversee enterprise identity governance using Azure AD / Entra ID. Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) across applications, implement role-based access controls, and strictly enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and routine access reviews.
- Cloud & Platform Administration: Manage the core Microsoft Azure platform, including resource allocation, cloud architecture governance, and proactive cost optimization.
- M365 & SharePoint Governance: Own the Microsoft 365 environment, including user lifecycle management (provisioning/deprovisioning), license optimization, and Exchange Online mail flow. Architecture and administer SharePoint Online site structures, libraries, and access permissions.
- Infrastructure & Network Oversight: Monitor network infrastructure, ISPs, connectivity, and firewalls. Manage domain registries, DNS records, and the end-to-end SSL certificate lifecycle.
- Security & Endpoint Management: Coordinate organization-wide security awareness training. Deploy device management and endpoint security policies using Microsoft Intune, and apply Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls.
- Enterprise Applications & Data Governance: Administer user provisioning, role assignments, and access auditing for enterprise platforms (ERP/CRM), with a preference for Dynamics 365. Champion data integrity and lifecycle management.
- Project Management & Process Improvement: Lead internal IT projects utilizing structured methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid). Identify operational inefficiencies, apply Lean or continuous improvement concepts, and maintain transparent project dashboards.
- Vendor & Compliance Governance: Draft and maintain rigorous technical documentation, change control processes, and enterprise architecture frameworks. Manage third-party IT vendors, ensuring they meet or exceed performance SLAs.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must be a versatile technical generalist who has operated across multiple IT domains rather than a siloed specialist.
Experience & Attributes:
- Lean Environment Proven Track Record: Substantial experience working in small-to-mid-sized organizations where you were deeply involved in—or solely responsible for—most areas of IT operations.
- Distributed Team Support: Prior experience supporting global or geographically distributed teams is highly preferred.
- Mindset: A strong balance of technical execution, natural leadership capability, process discipline, and an audit-ready compliance mindset.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Microsoft Suite Expertise: Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 Administration, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online governance.
- Identity & Cloud Security: Deep proficiency in Azure AD / Entra ID, SSO integrations, MFA deployment, and Intune/DLP endpoint management.
- Azure Infrastructure: Solid foundational understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud resource management and cost containment.
- Core Networking: Solid grasp of firewalls, DNS management, and SSL security.
- Business Applications: Experience with ERP/CRM system administration (Dynamics 365 Business Central or CRM is a strong asset).
- Frameworks: Familiarity with project management tracking tools and Lean/continuous improvement methodologies.
