Job Overview
We are seeking Casual (with the potential for Part-time) compassionate and dedicated caregivers in the Carleton Place area for PSW and HSW positions. This role involves providing high-quality assistance and support to residents in assisted living or nursing home settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring dementia care. Duties
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document accurately
- Support residents with dementia or cognitive impairments through engaging activities and supervision
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding if necessary
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning resident rooms and common areas to maintain a safe environment
- Monitor residents’ health status and report any changes to healthcare staff promptly
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance residents’ well-being
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) in accordance with care plans
- Support residents with disabilities or mobility challenges to promote independence
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and medication administration protocols
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities
- Ability to perform light cleaning and meal preparation efficiently and safely
- Compassionate attitude focused on respecting residents’ dignity and preferences
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing resident needs and care requirements
