NEEDED FOR OCT 21st Experienced labourers needed to work with Global Cathodic Protection Inc. on a short term basis of approximately 6-7 weeks. Global Cathodic Protection Inc has been contracted by the City of Ottawa to do maintenance work on their municipal watermains. Labour experience a must along with a valid G license. Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs comfortably and be physically fit. Good communication skills are very important as you will be working alongside the team.
The job requires troubleshooting skills. Repetitive movements i.e. bending, kneeling, sitting, crouching, up and down movements. Mandatory paid on-line safety training courses provided before hiring. PPE (Hard Hat, Boots, Vest) must be worn at all times. Global will supply gloves, eye protection and ear buds. All applicants must live in Ottawa as there is no travel allowance or hotel stays available. There is no work available with Global Cathodic Protection Inc. in 2026 after this project. All employees will be laid off at the end of the project.
The labourers will be responsible for:
Setting up pylons/delineators for traffic control as per traffic control plans. You will receive direction from Foreman to ensure safety of workers and pedestrians.
Assist with shovelling of aggregate/backfill, into exposed holes.
1 or 2 labourers hired may be responsible for welding of Anode to pipe
Operating a tamper to ensure compaction of aggregate/backfill.
Applying hot asphalt mix to excavated area.
Cleaning up ground to ensure the area is left clean and free of any and all debris.
Setting up traffic control signage as required.
Retrieving anodes from company truck and laying them on the side of roads in many different locations.
