Job Overview:
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team to achieve revenue growth, customer retention, and market expansion. This role oversees sales activities within assigned territories, product lines, or business segments, ensuring alignment with company goals and marketing initiatives. The Sales Manager is accountable for team performance, customer satisfaction, and sales profitability. Key responsibilities include setting sales strategies, monitoring performance metrics, supporting business development, training and developing the team and ensuring operational consistency across sales functions. This role plays a critical part in driving customer value, employee engagement, and overall business success.
What you can expect from the job:
- Work with department leaders to set strategic sales goals and strategies for the team.
- Oversee sales operations and performance to ensure customer needs are met and sales targets are achieved.
- Monitor and analyze sales metrics and trends to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify and support business development opportunities, including new markets, accounts, and partnerships.
- Coordinate customer training and deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations as needed.
- Ensure the showroom remains clean, organized, and professionally presented for customers, ensuring displays are updated for discontinued product.
- Ensure all pricing, quotes, and freight charges meet company guidelines and gross profit targets.
- Build and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align on order fulfillment, inventory, and customer needs.
- Identify and drive up-selling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information, quotes, and sales activities in the CRM system.
- Ensure warranty claims, returns, credits, and freight costs comply with company policies.
- Identify and communicate inventory issues, including low stock levels, to support timely purchasing decisions.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities.
- Pursue ongoing development through training and in-house knowledge sharing.
- Support and execute the company’s marketing strategy and initiatives including trade shows, customer events, and promotions.
- Stay current on product features, benefits, market conditions, competitor offerings, and industry trends.
- Oversee office opening and closing procedures.
- Address escalated customer and vendor issues professionally, ensuring a positive outcome.
- Support and promote the culture program by demonstrating our core values and integrating them into team dynamics and decision-making.
- Deliver onboarding and foundational training that prepares new staff to confidently perform their role and understand key procedures and expectations.
- Provide ongoing training and development to build team knowledge of procedures, products, technical information, and professional skills.
- Set performance targets, monitor employee progress, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues promptly.
- Consult with HR on employee matters including issues with attendance, performance management, accommodation, workplace conflicts, harassment, policy adherence, etc.
- Demonstrate professionalism and represent the company positively in all interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
What is required:
· Minimum grade 12 graduate
· Strong experience in management and leadership required
· Experience in the wholesale plumbing industry required
· Strong computer and sales skills
· Valid drivers license required
