About Us
Into Chocolate Candy & Confections is an independently owned sweet shop located in the heart of Fort Langley’s busy tourism district. We offer a fun, welcoming shopping experience and a tempting selection of chocolate, candy and specialty confections.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Store Manager who enjoys leading a team, providing exceptional customer service and keeping a retail store running smoothly. This is an active role for someone who is equally comfortable coaching employees, organizing inventory, creating attractive displays and assisting customers on the sales floor.
What You’ll Do
As Store Manager, you will oversee the store’s day-to-day operations while remaining visible and actively involved with customers and employees.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, training, coaching and motivating store employees
- Assigning work, maintaining task lists and setting clear performance expectations
- Preparing staff schedules that provide reliable coverage and support busy periods
- Partnering with ownership on recruitment, hiring and employee performance reviews
- Modelling warm, knowledgeable customer service and resolving concerns professionally
- Overseeing opening and closing procedures, cash-outs, security practices and store readiness
- Monitoring inventory levels and placing approved product orders
- Receiving, organizing, rotating and accurately counting inventory
- Reducing product shortages, damage and other product loss.
- Creating attractive, well-stocked displays and seasonal presentations
- Ensuring pricing and product information remain current and accurate
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organized sales floor, service area and stockroom
- Following and reinforcing FoodSafe, sanitation, allergen, and product-handling procedures
- Working regular shifts as a Confectionery Salesperson
- Meeting with ownership to review staffing, sales, inventory, customer feedback and operational priorities
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- At least five years of retail or customer-service experience
- At least two years of supervisory experience
- Previous store-management experience, preferably in a specialty retail environment
- Experience training employees, organizing work and preparing staff schedules
- The ability to address performance concerns constructively and respectfully
- Experience with inventory control, ordering, receiving, stock rotation and merchandising
- Strong customer-service judgment and problem-solving skills
- A positive, respectful and motivational leadership style
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and Microsoft Excel
- Comfort using point-of-sale systems and other basic business technology
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, creativity and follow-through
- The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification or the ability to obtain it within an agreed timeframe
- A genuine interest in chocolate, candy and specialty retail
Schedule and Availability
This position is normally scheduled five days per week for approximately 35–40 hours. The Store Manager generally works early shifts but must regularly check in on and support evening and weekend employees.
Schedule flexibility is required during holidays, seasonal peaks, staff absences and special events. Specific hours may vary according to business needs.
Physical Requirements
This is an active retail position performed mainly on the sales floor and in stock areas. The role involves extended periods of standing and walking, frequent reaching and bending, and handling cartons and merchandise.
